1988: Polymerland, Inc. was established as a wholly owned subsidiary of the SABIC Company following SABIC 's purchase of Borg-Warner Chemicals. Polymerland was formed to offer engineering resins, commodities, custom compounds and colorants from the industry's leading manufacturers through a network of distribution centers and supporting warehouses, strategically located to serve customers around the country.

1989 to present: Polymerland began to expand its operations and customer base outside the U.S. in 1989, with distribution centers in the Caribbean and in Canada.

Just a year later, the company began building a European network. Today, the international scope has grown to include distribution centers in Mexico, Germany, United Kingdom, Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg, Denmark, France, Italy, Spain, Africa, South Africa, Asia, Russia, Turkey, India, Norway, Sweden, and Finland.

1993: Polymerland completely restructured its resin warehousing system into a configuration to support an advanced logistics system. It included innovative warehouse technology, inventory management programs and stocking programs.

1995: A new state-of-the-art centralized customer service operation was established in Charlotte, NC.

1999: Polymerland became SABIC Innovative Plastics to better convey the advantages the company offers, and to emphasize its commitment to customers. The name underscores the combination of Polymerland's resin distribution expertise with the resin manufacturing leadership of SABIC Innovative Plastics.

The new name also positioned SABIC Innovative Plastics support services designed to help customers' grow their businesses. Included are a wide range of seminars and training designed specifically for customers.

Today: gepolymerland.com, the industry's leading e-Commerce Web site, is speeding up and simplifying the whole range of customer services. It is comprehensive and user-friendly, offering 24-7 access to information on more than 30,000 resins, along with availability data, easy ordering procedures, order tracking and discussion groups.
